SuperSoul Brothers – From Béarn to Memphis
The SuperSoul Brothers are a potent cocktail, a blend of powerful ingredients that, when mixed together just right, definitely taste like artists of anthology. There's a hint of Stax, the Meters, and Little Richard in the guitar notes or more modern influences close to Lee Fields or Cory Wong. It feels like the 60s when you see the charismatic leader of the group, David Noël, wearing a three-piece suit like a retro dandy. And yet, it's been less than ten years since the group has been gracing stages worldwide.

The soul is definitely soulful, but the packaging dives into more urban territory and gets carried away by a joyful rock, accompanied by Nola Funk notes. While you can recognize the retro influences at first listen, SSB gives them a refreshing twist.
It swings, it's polished, rhythmic, modern, and you can't resist the urge to move to the rhythm to match the wild energy that the ensemble delivers on stage. Led by its singer, the group electrifies its concerts. And as several critics have noted, there may be something of the great Wilson Pickett, James Brown, or Otis Redding in "Feelgood Dave." Frenetic gestures, sweat, microphone tricks, diving into the crowd, the fiery leader never stops, moving everything in his path, igniting his audience, and recalling the great moments of soul artists. It must be said that this workaholic has made his joy for life his motto. Whether opening for iconic venues, at major festivals, or in more intimate venues in front of his own audience, he gives the same energy and rocks the stage. For him, the important thing is to "embrace every second with a ferocious appetite", with music being "the best way to convey this love for life and tolerance" !

Highlights 2021 - Shadows & Lights
The group was formed at the end of 2015 by a group of friends: David Noël on vocals, Pierre-Antoine Dumora on guitar, Ludovic Timoteo on bass, and Fabrice Seny-Couty on drums. A year of total immersion work to establish the magical quartet, followed by concert after concert, and the arrival in 2018 of keyboardist Julien Stantau, then in 2019, trombonist Julien Suhubiette. Quickly, they released their debut album, "Shadows & Lights" (2021), composed and recorded live during the COVID crisis, noticed and signed by the Dixiefrog Records label, whose sound deliciously recalls the era of vinyl, warm sound, and juke joints. A raw, honest, and extremely optimistic album that buzzed in the specialized press. But it's two years later that the group really starts to make a name for itself by releasing a second album, "The Road to Sound Live", 100% live, as an undeniable proof of their stage power (Soul revelation at the Jazz in Marciac Festival 2022) and by winning the French Blues Challenge in April 2023, which earned them a ticket to represent France at the 39th International Blues Challenge in Memphis, USA.

October 2023, back in the studio to give birth to their second studio album: "By The Way". An album that explores the themes of introspection, loss, joys, and the passage of time. Each track paints a picture of the group's journey through life, filled with both moments of happiness and difficulties. Echoing the departure of the original drummer Fabrice Seny-Couty and the arrival of a new drummer, Mr. Olivier Pelfigues. Claire Rousselot-Paillez, present since the early days of the formation as a backing vocalist, joins the group as a full member and actively participates in the composition and elaboration of the new LP.

2024 Semi-finalist 39th IBC Memphis USA
In January 2024, accompanied by the legendary association France Blues, the group set out to warm up Memphis and the clubs of Beale Street. Faced with an unprecedented cold wave, minus 20 degrees Celsius, they managed to conquer the hearts of Americans, who flocked in increasing numbers to each of their performances to discover the original universe of these little Frenchies, even qualifying their music according to the prestigious "Blues Foundation" as: "Red Hot, Smoking Soul Blues". Our Béarnais reached the semi-finals where only 3 European groups represented the old continent and bowed to the grand winner of the IBC, "Piper & The Hard Time". As a side note, Al "Piper" Green came to hug David very tightly. Despite not reaching the final and facing a multitude of American groups, The SuperSoul Brothers did not disappoint, and it is with their own original compositions, their stage presence, and their wild energy that they conquered Americans, present tour managers, and many festival representatives. They returned to the southwest of France very happy and moved, with an additional value: the profound feeling of being validated by the original land of Soul, of having lived a suspended moment, between a pilgrimage to the source of the blues and the feeling of having gained an extra soul that will undoubtedly transpire in their next album.

2024 – By The Way The SuperSoul Brothers, New Album
After two albums recorded in conditions close to live to capture the energy they deliver on stage, The SuperSoul Brothers are releasing a new album on Dixiefrog Records titled simply "By The Way". This time, they're raising the bar, taking big risks, trying out funkier experiments in the studio. David Noël's voice, carried to the heights by his musicians, once again serves as a delicate bridge between the old and the new. It's delicate, exquisite, fresh, but above all, it's more danceable than ever. A more mature album that explores themes of introspection, loss, sharing, joys, and the passage of time. Each track paints a portrait of the band's journey through life, filled with moments of both happiness and difficulties. This new opus will feature 12 tracks oscillating between Rock ‘n’ Soul and Nola Funk. Each song is an event, a universe. This combo is a real band, united around their lead, vibrating and composing together. Playing simple is the hardest thing in the world, but the SuperSoul Brothers will undoubtedly conquer your heart just as they have conquered the hearts of the Southern United States.
